About Parvatasana -The Mountain Pose in yoga is considered to be an inherent pose of the Sun Salutation or Surya Namaskar. The posture can create a sense of strength and flexibility with movement spiralling inwards towards the centre rather than outward.

Steps for Parvatasana (Mountain Pose):

  • Start in Tadasana (Mountain Pose), standing with your feet together.
  • As you inhale, press your arms up overhead into a prayer.
  • Breathe out, and step your left foot back next to the right foot.
  • At the same time, lift your butt and lower your head so it comes between the arms, creating a triangle between your back and legs.
  • Final position Keep the arms and legs straight.
  • Try to keep your heels fixed while pulling the head upwards toward the knees, feeling a stretch in the back of the legs.
  • Exhale bringing the left leg behind you.

Breathing Awareness:

   Breathe out as you bring the left leg back

Awareness :

Physical Awareness: Concentrate on releasing in the hips or the area of the throat.

Spiritual Awareness: Centre your consciousness on the Vishuddhi.

Mantra:
