What do I need to study beforehand?

What is the batch size of your YTTC programs?
We prefer to keep our batches limited so students can receive better guidance and personal attention from teachers. The exact batch size may vary by season and course.

What are your yoga school policies?

Can I skip classes during the course?
Regular attendance is required because the course is intensive. If you miss a class because of illness or an emergency, please inform the teachers or office team. Too many missed classes may affect certification eligibility.
When will I have free time during the course?
The daily schedule is structured, but students get breaks between classes and personal time for rest, self-study, laundry, reflection and connecting with other students. Sundays usually have a lighter schedule or excursion plan depending on the program.
Do I need to bring my own yoga mat?
Yoga mats and basic props are usually available at the school. You may still bring your own mat if you prefer using your personal one.
Who should not attend a YTTC program without medical advice?
Students with serious physical injuries, recent surgery, uncontrolled medical conditions, pregnancy or severe mental health concerns should consult a qualified healthcare professional before joining. Please also inform the school in advance so we can guide you properly.
Do I need to pass an exam to get the certificate?
Yes. Certification is based on attendance, participation, professional conduct and assessment. Depending on the course, the assessment may include written work, practical teaching, demonstration and class participation.

Travel and Visa
What type of visa do I need?
Most international students come to India on a tourist visa for short-term yoga courses. Visa rules can change, so please check with the Indian embassy, consulate or official visa website in your country before booking your travel.
Which airport should I choose to fly to?
You can fly to Delhi International Airport or Dehradun Airport. Dehradun Airport is closer to Rishikesh and is usually more convenient. From Dehradun, Rishikesh is around 30 to 45 minutes by car depending on traffic.
Can you help with travel arrangements after I arrive in India?
Yes. With advance notice, we can help arrange transportation from the airport, bus station or train station to the school. Please share your arrival details with our team before you travel.
Can I change my booking after confirmation?
Changes may be possible depending on availability and the booking policy. Please inform us as soon as possible if you need to change your dates, room type or program.
Can I pay the remaining course balance by card at the school?
Card payment may be available at the school, but it is always better to confirm payment options before arrival. Please also inform your bank about international use to avoid card payment issues in India.
When should I arrive and depart?
We recommend arriving one day before the course starts so you can settle in and attend orientation without stress. The closing ceremony usually finishes by late morning on the last day, so it is better to plan departure for later that day or the next day.
Accommodation and Food
Can we use phones at the school?
Yes. You can use your phone during free time. We request students to avoid phone use during classes, practice sessions, meditation and group activities.
Is Wi-Fi available at the school?
Yes. Wi-Fi is available at the school. Internet speed may vary depending on local network conditions.
What facilities are available in the rooms?
Rooms are simple, clean and comfortable. Facilities generally include a bed, bedding, storage space, attached bathroom and hot water. AC or heater availability may depend on the room type, season and booking option.
I am vegan. Will the food be suitable for me?
Our food is vegetarian by default, not fully vegan. If you are vegan, please inform us in advance. We will try our best to support your needs depending on what is possible in the kitchen.
What type of power plug is used in India?
India commonly uses Type C, Type D and Type M plugs. We recommend bringing a universal travel adapter so your devices can be charged easily.
Health and Safety
Is clean drinking water available at the school?
Yes. Filtered drinking water is available at the school. Students are encouraged to carry a reusable water bottle and stay hydrated during the day.
Is Rishikesh safe for women to visit and stay?
Rishikesh is generally considered safe for women travelers and has a peaceful spiritual atmosphere. At Adi Yoga Ashram, we maintain a safe and supportive environment. Still, students should follow normal travel precautions, especially when going out alone at night.
What is the weather like in Rishikesh and what clothes should I bring?
Winter, from December to February: Mornings and nights can be cold, so warm clothes, socks and a jacket are recommended.
Summer and monsoon, from April to September: The weather can be hot and humid, with rain during monsoon. Light cotton clothes, an umbrella or raincoat are useful.
October to March: Weather can be pleasant to cold. Carry layers so you can adjust between daytime and morning or evening temperatures.
How much cash should I carry?
It is useful to carry some Indian rupees for small personal expenses, local transport, snacks or emergency needs. ATMs are available in Rishikesh, but keeping some cash with you is practical.
What if I get sick during my course?
If you feel unwell during the course, inform the office or teachers immediately. We can support you with basic assistance and help you access nearby medical facilities if required.
Are medical facilities available in Rishikesh?
Yes. Rishikesh has clinics, pharmacies and hospitals. For more advanced medical care, Dehradun also has larger hospitals. Our team can help guide you if medical support is needed during your stay.
